Discord Admits Over 8,000 Users Incorrectly Banned Due to Bug
Discord has corrected a bug in its safety system that resulted in the mistaken banning of over 8,000 accounts since May, including users who posted grid-like images.

Discord has acknowledged a bug within its safety system that led to the incorrect banning of over 8,000 user accounts since May. The platform confirmed that the glitch affected numerous users who shared images containing grids, such as chessboards, game textures, and Minecraft inventories.
Stanislav Vishnevskiy, Discord's co-founder and CTO, stated on X that the bug impacted approximately 200 users who posted "grid-like" pictures. An additional 8,000 users were banned for posting "other benign images." Reports of these erroneous bans surfaced widely over the past week.
According to Vishnevskiy, all users affected by the bug have now had their accounts unbanned. The company has taken swift action to restore user access and rectify the technical issue causing these mistaken actions.
Discord did not provide specific details regarding the cause of the bug but emphasized it was a technical anomaly and not related to user safety concerning harmful content.
