Disney+ and Hulu Raise Subscription Prices
Disney is increasing the prices for its streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu, adding to a continuing trend across the industry. The new prices will take effect in September 2026.
Disney has announced price hikes for its streaming platforms, Disney+ and Hulu. This move continues a broader industry trend of rising subscription costs that has seen multiple major streaming services adjust their pricing upwards.
The ad-free bundle for Disney+ and Hulu will now cost $21.99 per month, up from $19.99. Standalone ad-free plans for each service are also increasing to $21.49 monthly, from $18.99. The standalone ad-supported plans for both Disney+ and Hulu will be priced at $12.49 per month.
These price adjustments are part of Disney's ongoing strategy to make its streaming business more profitable. In the company's third-quarter 2026 earnings, entertainment streaming revenue from Disney+ and Hulu rose 11% to $5.5 billion, attributed to subscriber growth and the impact of prior price increases.
Disney+ initially launched in 2019 with a base monthly subscription of $6.99. Since then, the service's pricing has gradually increased. Competitors such as Peacock, Apple TV+, and Netflix have also implemented price increases earlier this year or in recent months.
