Disney Appoints First Chief Technology Officer
Disney has appointed Karandeep Anand as its first Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Anand joins from Character.AI, where he previously served as CEO.

Disney has appointed Karandeep Anand to the newly created position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Anand will report directly to recently appointed CEO Josh D'Amaro and will oversee the company's infrastructure, product, engineering, and data and AI platforms teams.
Anand joins Disney from the AI startup Character.AI, where he held the role of CEO for just over a year. During his tenure, he focused on the company's expansion into areas such as microdramas.
The appointment marks a significant development for Disney, as it establishes the CTO role for the first time. Anand's expertise in AI and platform development is expected to be crucial as Disney navigates the evolving landscape of digital entertainment and streaming.
Prior to his role at Character.AI, Anand held various technology leadership positions at companies including Microsoft and Amazon Web Services. His responsibilities at Disney will involve guiding the company's technological strategy and fostering innovation across its diverse operations.
