DistroKid Removes Songs Following UMG Lawsuit
Music distributor DistroKid has begun removing songs from platforms in response to a lawsuit filed by Universal Music Group (UMG). Artists report their works are being removed without notice, raising concerns about the scope of the action.

Music distribution service DistroKid has started removing songs from streaming platforms as a response to a lawsuit filed by Universal Music Group (UMG) in September. UMG alleges that DistroKid has created an "AI-slop pipeline."
Artists have taken to social media to report that their works have been removed without prior notification. Some artists claim that their non-AI generated content has also been caught in these removals.
Musician McGwire reported that six of his songs were removed. He stated, similar to other artists, that there was no communication from DistroKid before or after the removals.
DistroKid confirmed to The Verge that the takedowns are a direct response to UMG's claims. The company has not provided further comment on the matter.
