DJI and Insta360 capture 93% of global handheld smart-camera market

Chinese technology firms DJI and Insta360 dominated the global market for handheld smart cameras in the second quarter of 2026, together accounting for 93% of all shipments. DJI held a 73% share, while Insta360 secured 20%.
Overall, shipments of these devices grew 57% year-over-year, reaching over 5.88 million units. The market revenue approached RMB 15.7 billion, according to data from IDC.
The report indicated significant growth in specific segments, with gimbal-camera shipments rising 87% and detachable action-camera shipments increasing by more than 300%. These figures highlight the strong market presence of these two Chinese manufacturers.
IDC forecasts that annual shipments of handheld smart cameras are expected to approach 41 million units by 2030.
