Chinese technology firm DJI has initiated multiple patent lawsuits against its competitor Insta360 in courts across China. The lawsuits accuse Insta360's Luna series products of infringing on DJI's long-standing invention patents related to handheld gimbals and their control methods.

DJI claims these patents cover core technologies such as handheld gimbals, control methods, filming and storage, and detachable control devices. The legal actions have been filed in several Chinese cities, with some cases nearing trial.

Insta360 has responded by filing six patent infringement lawsuits against DJI in various Chinese cities. Insta360 alleges that DJI's popular panorama cameras and gimbal devices infringe upon its patents, covering technologies like panoramic shooting and editing, and camera thermal management. Insta360 has also requested the invalidation of DJI's relevant patents from China's National Intellectual Property Administration.

The legal battles underscore intensifying competition in the smart handheld camera market. According to IDC, DJI leads the global market with a 65% share, followed by Insta360 at 22% with the fastest growth. GoPro's market share has reportedly declined due to this competition.
