DJI Launches AP100 Parachute System for Matrice 400 Drone

DJI launched its first parachute system designed for enterprise drone applications on Wednesday, named the DJI AP100 Parachute. The system is built specifically for the Matrice 400 drone.

The AP100 system weighs approximately 935 grams and carries an IP55 protection rating, allowing operation in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C. It supports both automatic and manual deployment. DJI states the system can halt the drone's propellers and deploy the parachute within 600 milliseconds, reducing the drone's descent speed to under 5 meters per second.

Throughout the flight, the AP100 continuously monitors its gas generator and communication link status. Any detected abnormalities are displayed in real time via the Health Management System (HMS) interface in DJI Pilot 2. Upon deployment, an independent Flight Termination System (FTS) cuts power to the motors within 600 milliseconds to prevent entanglement of parachute lines with the propellers.

Following deployment, the system activates an audible and visual alarm that operates for about one hour, intended to warn nearby individuals and aid in locating the drone after landing. The AP100 is priced at 7,488 yuan (approximately $1,100) and is available exclusively through authorized distributors.
