DNV Acquires Equinor's Digital Solution, Launches Wellhead Fatigue Manager

HØVIK, Norway – DNV has agreed to acquire WellSpot, a digital solution developed by Equinor over the past 15 years, which will be commercialized under the new name Wellhead Fatigue Manager. The platform is designed to support offshore operators in monitoring, assessing, and managing subsea wellhead fatigue throughout the entire lifecycle of wells.

The Wellhead Fatigue Manager consolidates data, analysis, and standardized workflows into a single, secure environment. This shift moves operators from fragmented, one-off engineering assessments to a continuous, data-driven fatigue management approach. The solution enhances operational safety, ensures quality-assured data, and supports more efficient use of existing infrastructure.

The platform integrates DNV's established DNV-RP-E104 methodology for wellhead fatigue analysis. This methodology was developed with 16 international operators and six engineering companies and has been adopted by over 400 companies globally. Equinor and AkerBP are the initial users of the DNV-operated platform.

DNV plans to further develop the Wellhead Fatigue Manager with software enhancements and new features. The company aims to improve safety and optimize operational performance by enabling a more proactive and continuous approach to wellhead fatigue management throughout the life of subsea wells.
