Docketwise Reaches Settlement in Data Incident Lawsuit

Docketwise, a software provider for law firms, has agreed to a settlement in a class action lawsuit following a data incident that occurred in October 2025. The company stated that unauthorized actors accessed credentials for a third-party data repository used by Docketwise.

The company denies plaintiffs' claims and any liability in the case, "Emerokwam v. 8am LLC d/b/a Docketwise." The settlement class includes individuals who received notice that their personally identifiable information (PII) may have been compromised.

Under the proposed settlement, Docketwise will provide benefits to class members. These include reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses and lost time, capped at $5,000 per person, or an alternative cash payment of $50. Additionally, class members are eligible for two years of credit monitoring services.

To receive benefits, affected individuals must submit a claim form by October 15, 2026. Failure to participate means forfeiting the right to sue Docketwise over these claims. Individuals can opt out of the settlement by September 15, 2026, to retain this right.

A final court hearing to approve the settlement, as well as attorney fees and expenses not exceeding $300,000, is pending. The specific date for this hearing has not yet been scheduled.
