The shoulder joint typically consists of the upper arm bone's head fitting into the shoulder blade's socket. The X-ray showed a complete absence of the ball-and-socket structure. The humeral head was missing, and the detached upper arm bone was left floating freely within the arm.
Further examination using magnetic resonance imaging indicated extensive damage to the rotator cuff, the musculotendinous structure stabilizing the joint. Three out of the four primary tendons in the rotator cuff exhibited full-thickness tears.
Details regarding the patient's treatment and prognosis are pending, but the complete loss of a shoulder joint represents an unusual medical presentation.
