Dogs Playing for Life to Host 450th Shelter Playgroup Seminar
Animal welfare nonprofit Dogs Playing for Life will host its 450th "Every Dog, Every Day!" Playgroup Shelter Seminar at Sevier County Animal Shelter from October 18-21, 2026. The event trains shelter staff and volunteers in canine socialization.
Dogs Playing for Life (DPFL), a national animal welfare nonprofit, will host its 450th "Every Dog, Every Day!" Playgroup Shelter Seminar at the Sevier County Animal Shelter in Tennessee from October 18-21, 2026. The seminar aims to train shelter staff and volunteers in the safe implementation and management of daily playgroups for shelter dogs.
Playgroups are designed to reduce kennel stress, improve canine mental health, and allow dogs to exhibit natural behaviors. This initiative is intended to shorten shelter stays and increase adoption rates. Sevier County Animal Shelter is inviting neighboring animal shelters and rescue organizations to attend and observe, facilitating the spread of these enrichment strategies.
"Reaching our 450th shelter is an incredible milestone for our organization, and we are thrilled to celebrate it alongside the dedicated team at Sevier County Animal Shelter," said Aimee Sadler, Founder and COO of Dogs Playing for Life. "When we let dogs be dogs through daily play, the transformation is immediate. We see kennel stress drop, staff morale rise, and most importantly, an urgent decrease in canine length of stay."
Ashley Thomas, Director at Sevier County Animal Shelter, added, "We are so excited to host the Dogs Playing for Life seminar! Our staff, volunteers, and neighboring shelter partners are eager to learn everything we can about playgroups and dog behavior so that we can improve our shelter dogs' quality of life while they await their forever homes."
Dogs Playing for Life has implemented its programs at hundreds of organizations nationwide, aiming to enhance the quality of life and welfare for dogs in shelters through enrichment and improved care.
