Dongfeng's Xiaodong Robot to Enter Factory in October
Automaker Dongfeng's humanoid robot, Xiaodong, is scheduled to begin factory training by the end of October. The robot is expected to participate in trial production by year-end.
Automaker Dongfeng plans to deploy its humanoid robot, Xiaodong, for factory training by the end of October. The robot is slated to join trial production before the end of this year, with small-batch production anticipated for 2025.
Xiaodong is being developed for manufacturing roles, including sorting automotive materials, handling components, and conducting quality inspections. Dongfeng is currently validating the robot's capabilities in sorting and aims for autonomous execution in more flexible production tasks.
According to Dongfeng's chief engineer for intelligent technology, Zhang Zhenlin, capabilities developed across the company's vehicle, intelligent cockpit, and robotics divisions can be reused to accelerate commercialization efforts.
