Dongshan Precision Pursues Hong Kong Listing Amid Subdued Retail Demand

Dongshan Precision reported a first-half 2026 net profit of RMB2.96 billion, marking a 290% increase year-over-year on RMB27.8 billion in revenue. Despite this profit growth, the company’s Hong Kong initial public offering (IPO), priced at HK$86.80 per share, saw weak retail interest. While cornerstone investors committed US$680 million, margin-financed subscriptions for the public tranche reached only 0.39 times the available shares.

The firm's shift toward AI infrastructure has been driven by a series of acquisitions, including MFLEX in 2016 and Multek in 2018. These purchases moved the company from manufacturing basic structural components to producing complex circuit boards. The 2025 acquisition of Source Photonics further integrated the firm into the optical transceiver market, with optical products now accounting for 19.2% of the company's first-half 2026 revenue.

While profits have climbed, the company’s expansion remains capital-intensive. Operating cash flow fell by 4.65% to RMB2.38 billion in the first half of 2026, while finance costs jumped to RMB546 million due to acquisition debt and currency losses. The firm remains heavily reliant on a concentrated client base, with its top five customers accounting for over 54% of total revenue.

The Hong Kong listing aims to provide the capital necessary to scale production capacity for these acquired business units. Investors are currently weighing the company's profit growth against the high costs of maintaining its rapid acquisition-led expansion.
