Donna AI Aims to Streamline Small Law Firms With Automation
Donna AI is developing an AI-powered operating system for solo and small law firms. The company aims to reduce administrative burdens and improve access to legal services.

Solo and small law firms are frequently overwhelmed by administrative tasks, hindering their ability to serve clients effectively and affordably. Donna AI is developing a technology solution to address this challenge.
According to Saumya Banker, co-founder and CEO of Donna AI, the legal industry still relies on outdated workflows. These often lead to imprecise billing and workflow delays. Banker notes that many small firms use memory-based time tracking and triage tasks based on urgency without robust systems, resulting in clients potentially being overcharged for approximations and unmet legal needs for many.
"There's so much tedious operational and administrative work that actually takes up time in a law firm," Banker stated. He estimates that around 40% of a small firm's work is administrative, including tasks like inbox management, file organization, and workflow coordination. Automating these duties could free up lawyers to focus on client representation and legal strategy.
Donna AI's platform uses AI agents to manage routine administrative and operational tasks. This allows law firms to accelerate case processing, serve more clients, and lower service costs without compromising quality. Banker believes automation does not diminish the value of legal expertise but rather allows lawyers to apply it more effectively where it matters most.
As the legal sector evolves, a divide is emerging between firms adopting AI technologies and those adhering to manual processes. Donna AI seeks to be part of this technological shift, aiming to make legal assistance more accessible in the future.
