Independent camera researcher Radium Wang has successfully ported the classic video game Doom to the Hasselblad X2D camera. The high-end, medium-format camera, featuring a 100-megapixel sensor, has a price tag of approximately $8,000.

The project was undertaken as part of the "Hasselblad-X-System-CIM-Firmware-Research-Feature-Extensions" GitHub repository. In the demonstration, the X2D's touchscreen is used for character movement, while the camera's shutter button serves as the firing mechanism.

This is not the first instance of Doom being installed on camera hardware. Earlier this year, a developer managed to run the game on a Canon EOS 550D DSLR camera using third-party firmware extensions.

Doom, a first-person shooter game released in 1993 by id Software, has become a popular target for developers due to its small size and open code, enabling it to run on various hardware. The game involves players taking on the role of a space marine battling demons on a Mars facility.
