Bethesda and id Software have revealed the release schedule for 'Apocalypse,' the first major DLC for Doom: The Dark Ages. The expansion is set to unlock globally on July 7 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.

The 'Apocalypse' DLC will introduce a new single-player campaign with an estimated completion time of 10 to 12 hours. Developers stated that the scope of this DLC exceeds the combined total of the two previous story expansions for Doom: Eternal. Players will have the option to pre-load the content before its official release.

The narrative in the DLC revolves around a new weapon, the "chain spear," and consists of six levels. The game design is described as similar to the "Metroidvania" genre, requiring players to revisit previously explored areas with new abilities to solve puzzles, find hidden elements, and unlock new paths. The adventure begins in the "infernal" central region.

The standalone price for the DLC is set at $19.99, with an alternative "Premium Edition" upgrade available for $34.99. Players who already own the Premium or Collector's Edition of the game will automatically gain access upon release. The PS5 Pro version is slated to support PSSR technology to enhance visual fluidity.
