Doosan Robotics Posts Q2 Loss Amid Sales Growth
South Korean robotics firm Doosan Robotics reported a second-quarter loss, despite a significant increase in sales. The company's earnings were impacted by substantial investments and the launch of new products.
South Korean robotics manufacturer Doosan Robotics recorded a loss in the second quarter, even as its sales revenue climbed. The company posted a net loss of 12.4 billion won (approximately $9.3 million USD) for the period, an increase from the 8.6 billion won loss reported in the same quarter last year.
Despite the loss, sales revenue saw a substantial jump of 35%, reaching 70.7 billion won. This growth was attributed to the easing of COVID-19 related restrictions and a rebound in demand within the robotics sector. Doosan Robotics has been focusing on expanding its product line and investing in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and robots tailored for the food service and hospitality industries.
The company cited unexpected expenses and significant investments in new production facilities, as well as ongoing research and development efforts, as key factors contributing to the net loss.
