Gemmell has held leadership positions, including president and chief commercial officer, at various companies such as GoodRx, Capsule, and Havas Life. Her expertise includes scaling organizations and developing revenue models in the pharmaceutical and healthcare markets. She also advises venture- and private equity-backed companies on go-to-market strategies.
The appointment comes as Viking Therapeutics advances its pipeline, including its lead obesity drug candidate VK2735, which is in Phase 3 clinical studies. CEO Brian Lian stated that Gemmell's proven ability to translate innovation into commercial success makes her a valuable addition to the board at this critical time.
Viking Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel therapies for metabolic and endocrine disorders. The company's lead program, VK2735, is a dual GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist in development for obesity.
