DPD Switzerland boosts efficiency with AMETRAS software

AMETRAS vision GmbH has implemented software solutions at DPD Switzerland's logistics center in Buchs, significantly enhancing operational efficiency. The new system has led to a 30% increase in parcel handling volume, while costs have risen by only 5%.

The solution seamlessly integrates all parcel processing steps, including scanning, volume measurement, video monitoring, and package identification. It also leverages advanced technologies like Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and data from scan points to enable street and house number-specific sorting. This allows for flexible sorting configurations, such as Saturday deliveries or different sorting waves, to be easily implemented.

Through automation and optimization, the Buchs facility now operates with a single shift (4:00 PM - 12:00 AM), with inbound and outbound sorting occurring in parallel. The system also efficiently supports new customer acquisition through its electronic router label. Third-party labels can be read, and packages are directed to their sorting destination after a brief re-labeling.

Management information has been improved with automated sorting reports delivered as PDFs to subscribers each morning. These reports include statistical data and control system information. All evaluations and plant statuses are displayed in real-time via control center software, with information being prepared for smartphones and tablets.
