Dr. Joseph G. R. Martinez Recognized as Pinnacle Professional of the Year
The Inner Circle has named Dr. Joseph G. R. Martinez as a Pinnacle Professional of the Year for his contributions to mathematics education and student success.

Albuquerque, NM – Dr. Joseph G. R. Martinez has been recognized by The Inner Circle as a Pinnacle Professional of the Year for his work in mathematics education. The award acknowledges his nearly four decades of dedication to teaching and advancing mathematical concepts at the higher education level.
As a retired faculty member from the University of New Mexico, Dr. Martinez focused on making complex mathematical subjects, including calculus and algebra, accessible to students. His teaching philosophy emphasized patience and step-by-step instruction, aiming to reduce math anxiety and build student confidence.
Dr. Martinez holds a Ph.D. in Education and Mathematics from the University of New Mexico, earned in 1980. Throughout his career, he authored eight books and over 200 articles, including "Math Without Fear," which sought to demystify mathematics for learners.
He previously taught at the University of Albuquerque and retired from the University of New Mexico in 2012. Dr. Martinez continues to explore outreach opportunities, particularly within Orthodox Jewish communities, driven by the belief that anyone can learn mathematics with appropriate support.
