Drone Attacks in St. Petersburg: Damage and Injuries Reported

Russian authorities have reported damage and injuries in St. Petersburg after multiple drone attacks. Governor Alexander Beglov stated that infrastructure was damaged across several districts, without providing specific details on the extent of the damage. All emergency services are on heightened alert.

St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport suspended operations for several hours due to the attacks. Ukraine claims the strikes aimed to disrupt the multi-day economic forum, which Russian President Vladimir Putin was scheduled to attend. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy released video footage on social media showing a burning oil facility, asserting that St. Petersburg's oil terminal and the Kronstadt naval base were hit.

Russian authorities stated they intercepted several drones over the Leningrad region and approaching Moscow. According to the governor of the Leningrad region, 59 drones were shot down in the area. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that 13 drones were intercepted by air defense near the capital. Additionally, in the city of Michurinsk in the Tambov region, damages were reported to several buildings, including industrial facilities, a residential building, and a library, following a Ukrainian attack, with no injuries reported.
