Dropbox has launched its data access governance tool, Dropbox Protect, in Singapore. This makes the city-state the second market after Japan to gain access to the tool.
The tool provides IT and security teams with visibility into who can access content across cloud services including Dropbox, Google Drive, and Microsoft 365. It allows for the review of public links, external collaborators, and risky permissions, alongside the automation of policies and alerts.
The Singaporean launch occurs as the country's Personal Data Protection Act mandates organizations to implement reasonable security arrangements against unauthorized access to or disclosure of electronic personal data. Dropbox Protect aims to help companies meet these compliance requirements.
The tool competes with other data access governance vendors, such as Oleria and Microsoft's Defender for Cloud Apps. Dropbox's expansion into Singapore highlights the company's focus on enhancing data security for its enterprise clients in the Asian market.
