DSH Advises on Eco-Friendly and Skin-Friendly Cleaning Alternatives
Aktion Das Sichere Haus (DSH) promotes the use of environmentally friendly and skin-friendly cleaning methods as a safer alternative to strong chemical agents. The organization notes that many household cleaning products can harm skin and respiratory tracts.

Aktion Das Sichere Haus (DSH) is advising consumers to opt for environmentally friendly and skin-friendly cleaning methods, warning that many common chemical cleaning agents can be harmful. The organization highlights that these products can irritate skin, mucous membranes, and airways, potentially leading to respiratory issues, eczema, or allergies.
DSH suggests that most everyday household dirt can be effectively tackled using five simple and inexpensive household substances: vinegar (for limescale), citric acid (a neutral-smelling alternative), olive oil (for furniture polish), baking soda (for window cleaning), and washing soda (for grease removal).
The organization also recommends wearing gloves, even when using natural cleaning agents, to protect the skin from dryness. Applying a rich hand cream after cleaning is also advised.
Furthermore, DSH emphasizes that adhering to basic household hygiene rules can significantly reduce the need for chemical cleaners. This includes regular vacuuming, wiping surfaces with warm water and soap, and frequently replacing kitchen sponges and cleaning cloths.
