Duke Energy Florida to Reduce Electricity Rates in 2027
The Florida Public Service Commission has approved a rate reduction for Duke Energy Florida customers, effective in 2027.

Duke Energy Florida customers will see lower electricity bills starting in 2027 following approval from the Florida Public Service Commission. A typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per month will see a $33 reduction in their January 2027 bill compared to the same month in 2026.
The rate decrease is facilitated by a tax strategy that allowed the company to avoid a previously scheduled increase in the base rate. In addition to the primary adjustment, residential customers will receive a temporary $10 credit per 1,000 kWh between March and November, designed to offset costs during months of typically higher energy consumption.
Commercial and industrial customers are also set to benefit, with expected rate reductions ranging from 0.9% to 3.8%. The company noted that these adjustments will not hinder ongoing infrastructure projects, including efforts to enhance grid resilience and increase renewable energy capacity.
"We are committed to delivering real, tangible value for the essential service we provide," said Melissa Seixas, state president of Duke Energy Florida.
