Duke Energy Foundation awards $100,000 to Florida nonprofits

The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded $100,000 to three nonprofit organizations in Florida focused on advancing career readiness and entrepreneurship. The grants will benefit organizations in the Central Florida and Tampa Bay areas.

The funding will be distributed among three recipients. The Hispanic Heritage Network of Orange County will receive $25,000 to support its programming aimed at youth leadership and career readiness. The Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund of Metro Orlando will use $25,000 to expand its Next Gen Workforce Leadership Academy, which assists college students in developing skills and professional networks for career success.

Prospera Initiatives will receive the largest portion, $50,000, to provide educational programs and technical assistance to small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. This funding aims to help these individuals grow their businesses and foster economic mobility within the region.

The Duke Energy Foundation provides over $30 million annually in philanthropic support to communities where Duke Energy customers live. The foundation is funded by Duke Energy shareholders. These investments are intended to strengthen communities and provide residents with pathways to growth and success.
