Duke-NUS Medical School Launches Cross-Pacific Research Initiative

Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore has launched a new initiative named "Durham and Singapore Horizon" (DASH). This research and education initiative aims to build sustained collaboration across the Pacific between Duke University, Duke-NUS Medical School, and the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (AMC).

The inaugural DASH summit, held from June 2-4, 2026, is designed to accelerate the progression of promising ideas toward real-world impact. The initiative brings together stakeholders from academia, industry, and philanthropy from the outset of the research process.

"We believe that if we want science to become solutions, we need to ask the right questions early," said Professor Patrick Tan, Dean of Duke-NUS, describing DASH as a prototype for a new model of sustained collaboration. The goal is to integrate academic medicine practice and innovation institutionally.

Experts at the summit focused on key themes including integrated data tools for precision medicine and nucleic acid therapeutics. Investors and industry partners provided feedback on the proposed projects, with the first phase of selected projects expected to commence in September.
