Duke-NUS Medical School has welcomed its 18th cohort of 78 medical students to the Class of 2028. The cohort includes individuals from diverse academic backgrounds, with 22 admitted through special pathways.

Duke-NUS Medical School officially welcomed its 18th cohort of Doctor of Medicine (MD) students on August 2, marking the beginning of their medical journeys with a white coat ceremony.
The Class of 2028 comprises 78 aspiring doctors with varied academic experiences, including engineers, architects, and a violinist. A significant portion, 22 students, were admitted via conditional pathways from partner undergraduate programs at institutions like Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
Professor Thomas Coffman, Dean of Duke-NUS, highlighted the school's collaborations with leading academic institutions. "These pathways provide outstanding students with a direct route to fulfill their dreams of studying medicine and set them on a path to excellence in healthcare," Coffman stated.
The diverse cohort includes individuals like Dan Yuet Ruh, a violinist who draws parallels between musical discipline and empathy in medicine, and Lim Yu Wen, who aims to apply her architecture background to healthcare facility design. Wang Huwen brings prior research experience in infectious diseases, gained during her PhD studies.
