Duke-NUS Program Attracts Yan Xiaoxi for Advanced Biostatistical Research
Yan Xiaoxi chose Duke-NUS Medical School's PhD program to advance her statistical expertise in clinical research and digital health.

Yan Xiaoxi, a student admitted to Duke-NUS Medical School's PhD in Integrated Biostatistics and Bioinformatics (IBB) program in 2017, has selected the institution to further her statistical expertise.
Xiaoxi's academic path includes a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences and Medical Physics from University College London (UCL). During her undergraduate studies, she completed a biostatistics internship, which deepened her interest in the application of statistics within the health and biomedical fields. She subsequently pursued a Master's degree in Statistics at UCL and worked as a statistician at a health tech startup in London.
Her decision to apply to the Duke-NUS IBB program stemmed from its strong methodological focus and the opportunity to shape her own research. The program's integrated internship was also identified as a valuable component for a biostatistician.
Xiaoxi's research interests center on addressing methodological challenges in clinical trials, developing adaptive designs, and integrating big data technologies within these frameworks. She aims to apply her statistical skills and novel methodologies to various clinical problems and foster a connection between theoretical advancements and practical implementation.
