Dune 3 secures December 31 theatrical release date in China

The final installment of the Dune trilogy is scheduled to hit theaters in China on New Year's Eve, strategically separated from the release of Avengers: Doomsday.

21 October 2026

Dune 3, the conclusion to director Denis Villeneuve’s science fiction trilogy, has been confirmed for a December 31 release in China. This scheduling places the film roughly two weeks after the local release of Avengers: Doomsday, avoiding a direct box office clash between the two major franchises.

Adapted from Frank Herbert's novel Dune: Messiah, the film marks the end of Paul Atreides' narrative arc. The production features the return of key cast members including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Rebecca Ferguson, with Robert Pattinson joining the ensemble in an antagonistic role.

Composer Hans Zimmer returns to score the film, while Linus Sandgren serves as cinematographer, taking over from Greg Fraser. The film will continue the franchise's tradition of incorporating IMAX camera technology for specific sequences.
