Duolingo Launches Animated Series to Expand Character Universe

Language learning app Duolingo has launched a new, six-episode animated series titled "Duo TV." The series was created entirely by Duolingo's in-house design studio and stars the app's recognizable characters, including Duo the owl, Lily, Zari, and Falstaff. The series follows the characters as they navigate working at a mysterious grocery store named DuoMart.

The first two episodes were released on October 12th on Duolingo's official YouTube and Instagram channels, with new episodes following daily until the finale. This release aims to deepen fans' connection with Duolingo's characters and expand the brand's storytelling beyond the app.

In recent years, Duolingo has significantly invested in its characters and design team. The company believes long-term success requires more than just an app; it aims to build a dedicated entertainment arm and character universe, supporting future business growth for decades to come.

The brand's commitment to its characters is also evident in substantial social media followings and the integration of characters into in-app features. Duolingo's design team has more than tripled in size since 2021, and the company has acquired several animation studios to bolster its creative endeavors.
