Dyson Introduces Airstrait™ Hair Straightener
Dyson has unveiled the Airstrait™ hair straightener, a new styling tool that dries and straightens hair simultaneously using only air, without the use of hot plates.
Dyson GmbH has launched the Airstrait™ hair straightener, a new device designed to dry and style hair concurrently using controlled airflow. The company states that this technology allows for wet hair straightening without traditional hot plates, aiming to reduce heat damage. The Airstrait™ is intended to streamline styling routines and achieve a natural, smooth, and shiny finish.
The Airstrait™ utilizes a powerful, focused jet of air that dries and straightens hair simultaneously. Dyson reports that the technology is engineered for all hair types and is designed to maintain hair strength and its natural feel. Hair strands are held within two clamping plates, from which precisely aligned high-velocity airflow is directed downwards and into the hair, drying and straightening it in one pass.
Founder and Chief Engineer James Dyson highlighted that the device's performance is rooted in 25 years of expertise in harnessing airflow. "This expertise has enabled us to develop our first wet-to-dry straightener without hot plates and heat damage," Dyson stated. He added that the tool combines ease of use with efficient airflow to save time and preserve hair integrity.
Emma Sheldon, Vice President of Dyson Hair Care, mentioned that extensive user data gathered during development led to optimizing the airflow's direction for a more comfortable user experience. The device incorporates diffusers designed to direct heat away from the scalp.
The Dyson Airstrait™ is now available in Germany through Dyson's official website and select retail partners.
