Dyson GmbH, a prominent technology manufacturer, has issued detailed guidance on the proper cleaning of hair straighteners. The company emphasizes that regular maintenance is crucial for extending the device's lifespan, protecting hair health, and achieving optimal styling results.
The primary reason for cleaning straighteners is the buildup of dust, dandruff, skin residue, oil, and styling product remnants on the heating plates. These residues can burn into the device with each use, compromising both functionality and hair condition.
Dyson recommends cleaning the straightener at least once a month, ideally after each use. The instructions stress that the device must always be turned off and allowed to cool completely before cleaning begins. Users are cautioned against immersing the device in water or cleaning it under running water.
For cleaning, a slightly damp, lint-free cloth is advised for wiping the heating plates. Stubborn marks can be addressed with a cotton swab or a soft toothbrush. Dyson warns against using harsh detergents or specialized straightener cleaners, which could damage the appliance's surfaces.
