E-residents now outnumber Tartu city's population
The number of foreign nationals participating in Estonia's e-Residency program has now surpassed 100,000, exceeding the official population of the city of Tartu.

The number of active e-residents worldwide has now exceeded 100,000 individuals. This figure represents a substantial growth since the e-Residency program's inception in 2014. The current e-resident count now surpasses Tartu's official population, which stands at approximately 97,000 residents.
The e-Residency program allows international entrepreneurs to establish and manage Estonian companies entirely online. It has attracted businesspeople globally who seek an accessible and efficient way to operate within the European Union's single market. This significant increase highlights the program's appeal and its role in facilitating international business.
Foreign e-residents have founded over 21,000 companies in Estonia since the program's launch. These companies contribute to Estonia's economy through taxes and business activities. While the number of e-residents physically residing in Estonia is minimal, their digital presence and entrepreneurial ventures represent a growing economic force.
The program aims to foster digital entrepreneurship and position Estonia as an attractive hub for global business. The expanding user base and the commercial success of e-resident-founded companies underscore the program's effectiveness as a digital business solution.
