Ecobat workers ratify three-year collective bargaining agreement

Workers represented by Teamsters Local 986 at Ecobat in City of Industry, California, have ratified a new three-year contract. The agreement marks the largest wage increase for the facility's workforce in over 25 years.

Beyond salary adjustments, the contract introduces improved healthcare benefits, expanded paid time off, increased sick leave, and higher company contributions toward 401(k) retirement plans. Ecobat operates as a battery recycling and recovery firm, supplying reclaimed materials for industrial reuse.

Raymond Whitmer, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 986, stated that the agreement provides greater financial stability for members. Long-term employees noted that the new terms represent a significant shift in benefits and total compensation compared to previous agreements.
