EDF Launches £1 Million Support Scheme for Vulnerable Customers Against Heatwaves
EDF has launched a £1 million summer initiative to provide up to 10,000 vulnerable households with cooling products and electricity bill support. The program includes partnerships with Charis and SHINE London.

EDF has launched a £1 million summer support program in 2026 designed to assist vulnerable customers during periods of extreme heat. The initiative, named Heatwave Relief Packs, aims to provide aid to up to 10,000 eligible households.
The support package is valued at up to £100 per household and includes cooling items such as energy-efficient fans, thermal blackout curtains, reflective window film, reusable hydration bottles, and cooling towels. Additionally, customers may receive up to £20 in electricity credit or vouchers to help offset the cost of running cooling appliances.
The program addresses growing concerns about the health risks associated with heatwaves and the financial pressure that might prevent vulnerable customers from using necessary cooling equipment. The UK has seen a significant number of heat-associated deaths, particularly among the elderly.
EDF is collaborating with Charis and SHINE London for the distribution and identification of eligible customers. This effort extends EDF's customer support beyond winter months, acknowledging the increasing frequency and intensity of heatwaves due to climate change.
