EDF Launches £25,000 Grant for Small Businesses Investing in Sustainability

EDF Small Business has initiated a new sustainability grant program, allocating a total of £25,000 to support small businesses in the United Kingdom. The initiative, conducted in partnership with Enterprise Nation and supported by Square, aims to facilitate investments in greener technologies and practical sustainability improvements.

The program will provide five grants of £5,000 each. Additionally, five businesses will receive a workplace electric vehicle charger, including standard installation, supplied by Pod, EDF's EV charging company. Applications are open from July 21 to August 31, and businesses can apply for the grant, the EV charger, or both.

Eligible applicants must be UK-based businesses with fewer than 50 employees, trading for at least 12 months, and operating from a physical business premises. The funding can be used for various sustainability projects, such as upgrading to more energy-efficient equipment, improving building energy performance, installing renewable energy technologies like solar panels or battery storage, or investing in workplace EV charging infrastructure.

Claire Nutt, Director of Small Business at EDF, stated that the program helps businesses overcome barriers to investing in sustainability. "We're helping businesses turn their ambitions into action by investing in energy efficiency, renewable technologies and other practical improvements that can reduce emissions and support long term growth," she said. The applications will be reviewed by an independent judging panel, with successful candidates notified directly by Enterprise Nation.

The objective is to enable companies to make environmentally beneficial changes that also support their business development. The application period closes on August 31.
