Edtech platform Imagi raises $4.5 million

Education technology company Imagi has successfully raised $4.5 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Brighteye Ventures and Day One Capital, with additional investment from artist Wil.i.am.

Imagi provides tools for K-12 students and teachers to teach and build curriculum around coding, basic computer skills, and AI literacy. The company announced the funding on Thursday. Previously, the company partnered with the "vibe coding" tool Lovable, enabling teachers to create lessons and provide students with controlled access to the platform to learn "vibe coding."

OpenAI has also supported Imagi with $1 million in credits, allowing schools to access the Imagi x Lovable tool for free. The company continues to offer free trials and freemium access thanks to this support.

The company's product aims to address the debate around how AI should be deployed in schools and how young people should engage with this powerful technology. Imagi emphasizes that every prompt and response generated by the platform is screened, with any violations removed before reaching students. Additionally, Imagi complies with child privacy laws like COPPA, FERPA, and GDPR, ensuring no student data is retained or used for training.
