EE launches Advanced Full Fibre broadband with up to 8Gbps speeds in UK
EE has launched its new Advanced Full Fibre broadband service in Guildford, Woking, and surrounding areas, offering download speeds of up to 8Gbps using XGS-PON technology. The company is the first major UK provider to offer these speeds on the technology.
EE has introduced its Advanced Full Fibre broadband service in the UK, offering download speeds of 2.3Gbps and 8Gbps powered by next-generation XGS-PON technology. The service initially rolled out in Guildford, Woking, and surrounding areas.
EE states it is the first major UK provider to offer broadband speeds up to 8Gbps using XGS-PON technology. Broader availability will depend on Openreach's ongoing national rollout of the network infrastructure. The service is designed for modern households with numerous connected devices, supporting activities such as 4K and 8K streaming, online gaming, and remote work.
The Advanced Full Fibre service can simultaneously support up to 190 devices, offering speeds up to 222 times faster than standard superfast fibre broadband. Pricing starts at £54.99 per month for the 2.3Gbps plan and £74.99 per month for the 8Gbps plan.
EE aims for this launch to strengthen its broadband offering and support the broader industry shift towards higher-capacity home connectivity for streaming, gaming, remote work, and emerging digital applications, investing in technologies that will support future digital experiences.
