ElektraFi outlines performance metrics for fixed wireless versus satellite

ElektraFi, a rural broadband operator serving parts of Colorado and Texas, has released a performance comparison highlighting the technical advantages of fiber-fed fixed wireless over low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellite systems. The company argues that its infrastructure addresses key connectivity issues such as latency, upload capacity, and network reliability for underserved populations.

CEO Ryan Jenkins stated that many rural residents are unaware of alternatives to satellite options. According to the company, ElektraFi’s fixed wireless network maintains lower latency—typically 10–20 milliseconds—compared to satellite alternatives, along with superior weather resilience and consistent speeds, which the firm claims are necessary for modern digital tasks like gaming and professional video calls.

Beyond performance metrics, ElektraFi highlights that its physical network does not face the same user-density constraints as LEO satellite systems. To combat the challenge of power outages in its service areas, the company has deployed backup generators and battery storage, reporting 99.97% uptime in targeted regions like Routt and Moffat counties.
