Elevation Capital Sells Paytm Shares Worth ₹2,038 Crore

Venture capital firm Elevation Capital divested shares in fintech company Paytm worth approximately ₹2,038 crore through a series of bulk and block deals executed on Tuesday. The transactions took place on the NSE stock exchange.

Elevation Capital's holding entity, SAIF III Mauritius Company, sold 9.74 million shares, while another entity, SAIF Partners India IV Ltd., sold an additional 4.14 million shares. The average selling price for these shares was reported at ₹1,367.8. This price represents a discount of nearly 3% compared to Paytm's closing price of ₹1,408 on the same day.

The shares that entered the market were acquired by a mix of foreign investors, insurance companies, and domestic mutual funds. Funds such as Axis, Edelweiss, Franklin Templeton, and Tata increased their holdings in Paytm. International investors including Susquehanna, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Societe Generale also expanded their stakes in the fintech firm.

This marks the second instance this year that Elevation Capital has reduced its stake in Paytm. In May, the venture capital firm sold Paytm shares valued at ₹630 crore. As of the end of the June 2026 quarter, Elevation Capital still held slightly over 12% of Paytm's shares across its various entities.

Concurrently, Elevation Capital also sold 52.4 million shares in e-commerce platform Meesho for ₹974.6 crore in a separate block deal. Paytm's stock has seen a positive trend recently, gaining about 4.5% in the past couple of weeks following the company's financial disclosures for Q1 FY27 on July 20. The company reported a 79% year-over-year increase in net profit and a 28% year-over-year rise in operating revenue.
