Elevator to the Gallows returns to the big screen
Gaumont has restored and is re-releasing Louis Malle's classic film, "Elevator to the Gallows," to theaters starting June 24. This marks the film's return to the big screen after restoration.

Gaumont is bringing Louis Malle's directorial debut, "Elevator to the Gallows" (Ascenseur pour l'échafaud), back to theaters following a comprehensive restoration. The film is set to premiere on June 24.
Originally released on January 29, 1958, the crime thriller stars Jeanne Moreau and Maurice Ronet as lovers who plot a murder. Their plan begins to unravel when the husband, the boss, is killed, and the murderer finds himself trapped in an elevator.
The film's iconic jazz score, composed by Miles Davis, earned the Grand Prix du Disque award in 1958.
This theatrical re-release is part of Gaumont's ongoing celebration of its 120th anniversary. The company is undertaking a program to restore and re-release significant titles from its extensive catalog to cinema audiences.
