Elite Academic Academy Joins EDSAFE AI Alliance Policy Lab

Elite Academic Academy, a public charter school network based in Temecula, California, has joined the EDSAFE AI Alliance’s Policy Lab for the 2026–2027 academic year. The project, led by InnovateEDU and supported by Google.org, coordinates school districts and state entities to develop governance policies regarding artificial intelligence in classrooms.

The Policy Lab network currently encompasses 36 school districts and 16 state-level organizations, aiming to provide guidance on safety, accountability, transparency, and data privacy. Participating institutions co-design an open-access "policy stack," which includes guidelines for acceptable use, ethical frameworks, and communication protocols for parents and stakeholders.

Ashlea Kirkland-Haynes, CEO of Elite Academic Academy, stated that the organization intends to use these frameworks to ensure that AI integration remains secondary to human learning and student safety. The partnership serves as a platform to address evolving concerns regarding academic integrity and teacher support as AI tools become more prevalent in educational environments.

By joining the initiative, Elite Academic Academy gains access to a national network of experts and peer organizations. The school, which serves TK–12 students through personalized and virtual models, plans to integrate these findings into its existing curricula to navigate the ethical implementation of emerging technology.
