Elon Musk Donates $276 Million to Republican Groups

Technology magnate Elon Musk has contributed over $276 million to Republican groups since July, establishing him as the most significant known individual donor for the 2026 midterm elections. These contributions already surpass his political spending during the 2024 presidential election cycle.

Musk directed $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, the primary super PAC supporting Republican Senate candidates, and over $76 million to America PAC, an organization he founded. These new donations bring his total known federal political giving for the 2025-26 cycle to approximately $366 million.

Further contributions include $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC, which supports Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's campaign, $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund supporting House Republicans, $10 million to the Republican Governors Association, and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association.

The disclosures come ahead of the Federal Election Commission's deadline for political committees to report their third-quarter finances. Musk's substantial political funding represents a notable shift from his previous statements indicating plans to reduce his involvement in politics.
