Elon Musk proposes merger of Tesla and SpaceX
Elon Musk stated during a SpaceX earnings call that he supports merging the aerospace manufacturer with electric vehicle maker Tesla, citing potential synergies.

Elon Musk expressed his support for consolidating his two major business entities, Tesla and SpaceX, into a single corporate structure during a third-quarter earnings discussion. While Musk confirmed his personal backing of the proposal, he acknowledged that any such transaction would ultimately depend on the approval of shareholders.
The prospect of combining an automotive and energy company with an aerospace and telecommunications firm marks a shift in Musk's approach to his business portfolio. The discussion follows a significant period of corporate restructuring for Musk's ventures, including the recent integration of the artificial intelligence firm xAI into SpaceX earlier this year.
Following SpaceX's public offering in June, the company operates under increased regulatory and shareholder scrutiny. Financial analysts suggest that merging these entities would present complex valuation challenges given the disparate natures of the automotive and satellite launch markets, and the board of directors has yet to formalize any such transition.
