EMARKETER acquires RetailX research arm for global expansion
EMARKETER, a provider of data and insights on digital marketing, media, and commerce, has acquired RetailX's research business. The deal expands its global coverage of retail and e-commerce rankings.

NEW YORK – EMARKETER, a trusted source for data and insights on digital marketing, media, and commerce, announced its acquisition of RetailX's research business on September 24, 2026. The acquisition adds retail industry rankings and research capabilities to EMARKETER's platform.
The deal brings RetailX's research team, proprietary research tools, and flagship rankings, including The UK500 and The CustomerX Index, under the EMARKETER umbrella. The UK500 ranks the top 500 e-commerce retailers in the United Kingdom, while The CustomerX Index provides pan-European, cross-sector rankings. New editions covering the US market are also planned. These will be integrated with EMARKETER's own research, including its new AI Visibility Index for tracking brand visibility in AI-powered search.
EMARKETER stated the acquisition reflects its ongoing investment in proprietary research across digital commerce and its commitment to providing essential ranking data and benchmarks for marketers and retailers. The company will also enter into an ongoing media partnership with RetailX's events business, which will continue to operate independently.
"We are excited to welcome our new team members to EMARKETER who are central to our plans to bring even more value to The UK500 and the CustomerX Index," said Matthias Braun, CEO at EMARKETER. Ian Jindal, Founder of RetailX, commented, "I'm delighted that in EMARKETER we have a trusted research partner that will carry on what we have built with the RetailX rankings."
