Enerando Offers System Solutions for Optimized Solar Power and EV Charging

German company Enerando has developed solutions to help businesses optimize electric vehicle charging and their own solar power generation. These systems aim to maximize economic benefits by integrating solar panels and EV charging points through intelligent energy management.

The new solutions focus on managing peak load situations, with or without battery storage. The objective is to lower operational costs for companies while ensuring electricity is available when needed. Germany already has millions of solar panel systems, and a growing number of companies are installing EV charging points for staff, customers, and their own vehicle fleets.

Solar power generation fluctuates with the time of day and weather conditions. This means that during optimal periods, solar panels produce more electricity than buildings and charging infrastructure consume. Conversely, on cloudy days, self-generated power may not suffice. Excess solar energy can be fed into the public grid, often at a very low price. Electricity purchased from the grid can become expensive, especially if it leads to peak load issues.

Companies' electricity bills include a base charge, an energy price, and a demand charge. The demand charge is typically based on the highest recorded instantaneous power demand, which can significantly increase costs due to single peak events. If additional power required by charging infrastructure is drawn from the grid, it can easily cause these costly demand spikes.

Enerando's systems continuously monitor electricity consumption and production, striving to balance energy use and prevent load peaks. This might involve adjusting charging point power or temporarily deactivating them if grid load becomes too high. Companies can also utilize energy storage solutions to smooth out discrepancies between production and consumption without needing to interfere with the charging infrastructure's operation.
