As of early 2024, Germany registered approximately 1.4 million fully electric vehicles. Experts forecast this number to surge to as many as 10 million by 2030. This growth necessitates a significant expansion of charging infrastructure; the current count of around 108,000 public charging points is insufficient for future demand, which is projected to require up to 843,000 points by 2030.

Businesses may provide charging stations for several reasons: to maintain their own EV fleets, to attract or retain employees in a competitive labor market, or as part of a marketing strategy to enhance customer loyalty.
