EnergyScan platform launches in UK as wholesale gas prices surge
Magic Hour AI has released an automated monitoring platform designed to help UK consumers lock in energy deals amidst significant market volatility.

London-based Magic Hour AI has launched EnergyScan, a service that utilizes artificial intelligence to track UK energy tariffs in real-time. The launch coincides with a 93% weekly surge in wholesale gas prices, triggered by supply chain disruptions in the Middle East, which has placed pressure on the stability of existing fixed-rate energy contracts.
The platform functions by extracting data from energy bills and smart meters to provide tailored comparisons against the entire market. Unlike traditional comparison websites that rely on industry-standard estimates, EnergyScan models savings based on individual usage patterns and notifies subscribers as soon as a more cost-effective tariff becomes available.
Founder Steve Middleton stated that the platform operates on a transparent model, charging a £29 annual subscription and accepting a fixed, disclosed commission from suppliers. The company claims this structure eliminates the financial incentive to prioritize specific suppliers over others, a common criticism of existing comparison models.
As households face the risk of rising costs ahead of the July 2026 price cap review, EnergyScan allows users to switch suppliers directly through the interface. The service is designed to mitigate the risks associated with market fluctuations by providing a continuous, automated alternative to reactive, manual price checking.
