Enghouse and Cal-ITP Expand Integrated Transit Payments in Ventura County
Enghouse Transportation & Public Safety and the California Integrated Travel Project (Cal-ITP) have expanded an integrated fare payment system across Ventura County.

Enghouse Transportation & Public Safety, in collaboration with the California Integrated Travel Project (Cal-ITP), has expanded an integrated fare payment system across Ventura County, California. The initiative connects seven transit operators within a unified open-loop payment program, allowing riders to use their existing contactless credit or debit cards across participating services. Fares are automatically calculated at each tap.
This expansion builds upon Enghouse's initial open-loop payment deployment with the Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC). The program offers seamless travel across agency boundaries through regional fare capping, ensuring riders benefit from the same fare advantages as if using a single transit system. Cal-ITP also facilitates reduced fares for eligible riders across all participating operators.
"This regional launch is a major milestone for Cal-ITP and public transit in California," said Gillian Gillett, Chief of Data & Digital Services and California Integrated Mobility Program Manager at the California Department of Transportation. She expressed hope for more regional projects in the future.
The collaboration between Enghouse, Cal-ITP, VCTC, and local transit agencies aims to reduce barriers to public transportation. Enghouse provides scalable fare collection technology and real-time payment processing, while Cal-ITP offers the statewide framework and implementation support. The partners are establishing a model for connected, simple, and passenger-focused regional mobility.
