Enginsight updates automated penetration testing tool

IT security firm Enginsight has rolled out a significant update to its "Hacktor" tool in September 2019, focusing on enhancing automated penetration testing. The update introduces structural improvements to Audit Reports and expands the functionality of the Hacktor component.

A new "War Room" feature centralizes all identified security vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and potential attack vectors found during penetration tests. This provides an immediate overview of the entire IT infrastructure's risk posture. Users can utilize extensive filtering options to sort findings by risk level, service, or category.

The update boosts Hacktor's capability to detect security gaps through deeper system penetration, improving the identification of misconfigurations and outdated software. The tool can now automatically select the most appropriate tests for a target system, thereby reducing false positive results.

Further enhancements include advanced bruteforce tests that not only verify attack success but also attempt deeper system intrusion post-compromise. Hacktor also scans for CVE vulnerabilities related to service software versions via network-based scans and enhances discovery for a wider range of services, including SSH, FTP, and web forms.
